One aspect of health that we sometimes overlook is the state of our emotions. Have you ever witnessed how some people seem to handle life's curves with hope, faith and a smile? Happiness is a temporary condition, but finding joy is a state of being.
The impact of a joyous spirit is a huge health benefit. How we think affects everything. Processing our hurts and disappointments, and finding the lessons in those experiences, is key to better living. You must find time to laugh, relax, reflect and pray for guidance. We must pay attention to our decisions and how we respond to difficulties. Do we fly off the handle or do we stop and think before our next move? Are we mean spirited or are we thoughtful and gentle with others? Are we jealous and envious, or because we know that God is not short on His Blessings, are we happy for other people's triumphs?
In my most desperate moments, I sometimes have to grab my inner self and wake-up to the fact that while I can control my decisions and attitude, I must depend on the Lord to handle the rest. It is when I release my will to my heavenly father that I calm down and find peace. This is no easy task for a woman with a strong and determined spirit. But with God, all things are possible. We must determine if we are going to be a mental mess or if we are going to be in control of our emotions. Are we taking good advise, or are we stubborn and bent on having our own way?
Do you know the importance of good mental health? What are you doing for your mind? These are a few tips that have helped me maintain my sanity:
* Creating a restful bedroom and using a few drops of lavender essential oil in a small bowl of water placed next to my bed,
* Taking time to kneel and pray,
* Making decisions by considering its long and short term impact
* Taking an herbal cleanser to cleanse my body and unclog my mind,
* Talking to a wise friend who possess sound advise and one that I know loves me,
* Looking at a funny movie,
* Counting my Blessings big and small,
* Avoiding extended time with negative people
* Making time to take care of me, eating foods that will help me be the best physically, and enjoying a good massage
* Learning to forgive myself for stupid mistakes and thanking God for forgiving me when I confess and
repent
*Sitting and beholding the beauty of nature and being happy for the moment
*Getting a good nights sleep!
